I booked a Football break package for my boys (15 and 12 years of age) and I to watch Barca play a La Liga match against Getafe (10th April) at the Camp Nou stadium. I have never used this company before, but felt assured of their credentials (as they were listed with ABTA). The company did not let us down! We received flight and hotel coupons 10 days before departure, and our match tickets were waiting on our arrival at the hotel. I liked the flexibility of their packages as they allowed us the options to upgrade according to our needs (we upgraded our hotel and football tickets). Apart from the match, Barcelona was a great city to visit - plenty to see, very relaxed, and great food. I was very impressed by the inconspicous handling of crowds by police and was surprised by the ease of leaving the stadium.
Prior to travel, I purchased Barcelona cards for each of us. This allowed us unlimited use of public transport, free entry to many museums, and discounts on lots of useful things (entry to main tourist sites, 15% reduction on Barcelona shirts at certain shops, 15% discount at certain restaurants etc). The cards come with maps and guides which helped us plan our break.
We had a fantastic time, arrived at airport in Barcelona just in time to see Real Madrid arrive. Had great time with fans there and it was a good start to match day. Everything went really smoothly from arrival to departure - and we were delighted with result- esp Ronaldo scoring. Seats at Nou Camp were quite far away from pitch but we were near away fans which was fun. Hotel was basic for a 4 star but staff were helpful and it was very convenient. We will definitely do this again- maybe El Clasico in Madrid next season!
Use public transport to get about - cheap and efficient. Try the local tapas very good but it isn't cheap. Had lovely meal at Hard Rock Cafe in main square in Barcelona and interesting walk down La Rambla. Don't bother eating/drinking at stadium, expensive and not great.
We had a fantastic time and Rebecca was brilliant in organising the trip, everything was sorted, she even checked us in for both flights, we only had to turn up! the city was beautiful and to be fair the weather was really good as well, the football was a brilliant experience which we would do again, next time we would get better seats but it was still a great atmosphere!
Trust FootballBreak, Rebecca really helped us and gave good travelling advice from the airport to the hotel and good advice to get to the stadium, we would spend a bit more on the tickets but there was alot of people on my stag do 23 in total so we needed to keep costs down but it would be worth spending a bit more
A brilliant trip! Very well organised from start to finish. Hotel Catalonia Aragon is a bit away from the main sights of Barcelona but 10 minutes on the Metro and we were in the heart. An excellent two days just wandering the city, seeing thec sights, drinking coffee and eating tapas. For the match itself we went for the second level of ticket pricing and had superb seats - behind (and some way above!) the goal but at the very front of our particular tier. Atmospere superb despite 'only' 83000 attendance. Thoroughly recommend the whole package.
Excellent value for money and superbly organised. Travelling as a large group of 10 males, everything was in place for us to enjoy the weekend with minimal fuss. Hotel was very receptive and friendly and the tickets were available as documented at reception on the day of the game. The barcelona marina was fantastic with an exceptional beach and beachside resteraunts and bars. A great trip
Must visit Barcelona Marina - the beach is fanstastic. Also do not be afraid to use the underground service - it is second to none. Extremely cheap, easy to use, air conditioned and you even get phone signal. Certainly teaches London a thing or two!
