I am not used to booking a 'package' holiday. Usually do all of it myself so I was a little anxious about leaving all the arrangements to someone else. My fears were unfounded, I couldn't have done it any better myself. We would definitely use Football Breaks again. All the elements of our trip were spot on and the match itself was something else. Amazing seats and the atmosphere sent shivers down my spine.
Barcelona won as well. Hotel Icaria where we stayed was a really good, it was a good location for combining beach and city. Nice quiet location with some nice restaurants near by.
The hop on hop off tour bus is a must for getting around. Getting back to the hotel from the match was easier than I thought it would be, we just followed the crowd. Very family orientated and we felt very safe.
I was a little suspect first of all of booking the trip with a company I had just found online but there wasn't any need to worry because everything was exactly as planned and described in the email regarding the trip, I could not of asked for a better package deal, service, flights hotel and match day tickets.
I have been to a fair few grounds around Europe and always wanted to go to watch borussia dortmund because of its famous yellow wall, forget any other ground I would recommend any football fan to go watch a game at the signal iduna park it is incredible. The yellow wall is impressive and they can make some serious noise and they jump up and down constantly which looks amazing, anyone that doesn't no about the yellow wall I would seriously recommend them to look it up. The atmosphere from start to finish was the best I have experienced even when dortmund was losing 2-0 it was noisy but the place erupted when they scored twice to get a draw.
Getting to and from the hotel to the stadium was simple, the underground basically takes you straight to the door. Booking through footballbreak.co.uk couldn't be easier it's simple and quick with no hassle it makes sense to book through this company, i've recommend it to my family and friends and will be booking with them again and again, they offer a great service I emailed them a couple of times and got a rapid reply answering all my questions.
Dortmund as a city didn't seem to have much of a night life but there's plenty to do during the day I will be going back, highly recommend going to watch borussia dortmund and use football break.co.uk.
Use the underground it will take you from hotel or town centre straight to the ground. Get there early as the queues to get in can get very big. You need a card to buy food and drink inside the ground but you can buy when inside.
I did lots of research on where to get a 'football break' to surprise my boyfriend for his 30th Birthday and Footballbreak.com appeared to have the best recommendations that take into account everything you would need for the whole trip. I wasn't disappointed when booking the trip and found the whole process was easy to follow and very extremely efficient. The trip itself was amazing, I booked for the last game of the season watching Real Madrid vs Espanyol and the game, atmosphere and stadium didn't disappoint! Plus my boyfriend was excited to watch a Real Madrid game live rather than on the tv each week! The hotel we stayed in was in walking distance from the stadium and a metro ride from the town centre. Madrid itself was lovely and lots to do and see, lots of lovely places to eat also. The weather was amazing which also helped!! Would definitely recommend.
The metro system is really easy to use and a cheap way to get around well worth using. We did the Madrid city bus tour on our last day, which was really good, but would probably recommend doing the tour on the first day, as it gave us a better idea where everything was in relation to certain areas, shopping, museums, tapas bars etc. I would definitely recommend the Stadium tour, even if you're not a football or Real Madrid fan, it's well worth the money.
Was great to have whole package in one - service was great from football break, as I added my husband later when we realised that we didn't really want our son to go on his own (even if he is 21, it was a big deal for him and a better experience with his Dad than on his own) their seats were together and all was good.
Ensure you do the stadium tour, even if you don't have match tickets - well worth the trip on it's own!
The whole package was easy to put together and although the match was postponed initially footballbreak gave us several options and rebooked the whole package for us at no extra charge.
The atmosphere at Campnou was second to none. The only downside was the directions from the underground to the hotel were vague but the locals helped us out.
However, we have decided to make this an annual trip and with footballbreak's help we will be booking a different venue each year.
Savour the atmosphere of the stadium by getting there early then hang around afterwards and take as many pictures of this fantastic stadium and the surrounding venue.
