We had a great time on our trip to Madrid to see a Real Madrid match. The cost of the package was excellent and well worth every penny. The hotel was basic but clean and staff were as helpful as they could be taking into consideration the language barrier. Our football tickets were waiting for us. The room was ample big enough for 3 of us and cleaned daily. The trip to the match was brilliant, the atmosphere in and around the stadium was great. We also bought tickets for a tour of the stadium which was a great experience and good value. I cannot fault the service received from staff at FootballBreak.co.uk and would definitely book with them again and recommend them to others. We probably didn't get to experience as much of Madrid as we could have but what we did was great fun. All in all a very enjoyable experience and I think its off to Barcelona next year for another football break!
Use the underground to save money.Madrid is quite expensive and I would recommend visitors getting to grips with the underground as that saved us a fortune! The Real Madrid shop is expensive, buy a football shirt before you go. Also it is much cheaper to eat and drink away from the city centre. If families wish to guarantee they are sat together on Ryan Air they need to prebook their seats as it is a bit like a cattle market as you board! Also make sure you don't go over your baggage limits as it costs £20 per extra kilo....the family next to us had to pay out £100 on checking in!
My husband and I had a fantastic long weekend watching Barcelona at the Nou Camp. The flight info arrived well in advance and the match tickets were waiting at the hotel for us. Hotel Zenit borrell was in good location in the city very near the metro. The match was incredible and an amazing atmosphere - very friendly lots of families. Never needed to contact Football Break staff and would definitely recommend them. Looking at where to go next year....
Would definitely revisit Barcelona with and without children. went end of March and weather perfect- 28 degrees. We got Barcelona ticket for use on all public transport. Pre-ordered online and picked up at Barcelona airport it was brilliant for getting about without stress of money for ticket machines. Not much open on Sundays in city so do any shopping on the Saturday or Monday.
We had a fantastic time, arrived at airport in Barcelona just in time to see Real Madrid arrive. Had great time with fans there and it was a good start to match day. Everything went really smoothly from arrival to departure - and we were delighted with result- esp Ronaldo scoring. Seats at Nou Camp were quite far away from pitch but we were near away fans which was fun. Hotel was basic for a 4 star but staff were helpful and it was very convenient. We will definitely do this again- maybe El Clasico in Madrid next season!
Use public transport to get about - cheap and efficient. Try the local tapas very good but it isn't cheap. Had lovely meal at Hard Rock Cafe in main square in Barcelona and interesting walk down La Rambla. Don't bother eating/drinking at stadium, expensive and not great.
I booked a Football break package for my boys (15 and 12 years of age) and I to watch Barca play a La Liga match against Getafe (10th April) at the Camp Nou stadium. I have never used this company before, but felt assured of their credentials (as they were listed with ABTA). The company did not let us down! We received flight and hotel coupons 10 days before departure, and our match tickets were waiting on our arrival at the hotel. I liked the flexibility of their packages as they allowed us the options to upgrade according to our needs (we upgraded our hotel and football tickets). Apart from the match, Barcelona was a great city to visit - plenty to see, very relaxed, and great food. I was very impressed by the inconspicous handling of crowds by police and was surprised by the ease of leaving the stadium.
Prior to travel, I purchased Barcelona cards for each of us. This allowed us unlimited use of public transport, free entry to many museums, and discounts on lots of useful things (entry to main tourist sites, 15% reduction on Barcelona shirts at certain shops, 15% discount at certain restaurants etc). The cards come with maps and guides which helped us plan our break.
We felt that the whole package was superb and great value for money. We were lucky enough to spend 4 days in Barcelona so we managed to do a bit of sightseeing as well as attending the Camp Nou. Barcelona is a stunning city with so much to do and the fact that it is home to possibly the best club team ever made it an even more enjoyable visit. We were lucky enough to attend the Camp Nou whilst Pep Guardiola was still in charge and the fact that Valdes, Puyol, Xavi, Iniesta and Messi all played made it that bit more special. I would thoroughly recommend Footballbreak to anyone interested in this type of trip as the service we received was superb; we're already looking forward to our next trip!
The "aerobus" service direct to the city centre from the airport is excellent and very reliable as is the Metro. The whole Camp Nou experience is not to be missed and, if you have enough time, it's well worth doing some sightseeing.
